Car seat fabric protector

protectME is a water based, non toxic fabric protector that is safe to use on most fabric or textile surfaces: cotton, suede, leather, synthetics, wool and silk to name a few.

Our car fabric protector is safe to use on car seats, carpet flooring, mats and soft top convertible roofs. The best part is, you can apply it at home and don’t need to pay a professional to do the job.

Some precautions:

• As some colour dyes are not colour fast, particularly fabrics that are using vegetable dyes for example (usually vintage or handmade rugs), we recommend testing the surface in a small inconspicuous area for colour fastness prior to applying all over.

It’s a good idea to give your car upholstery a thorough clean before using a protector spray. Vacuum any dirt or food crumbs from the seats and floors, shake out mats and wipe down windows with a micro-fibre cloth. Once you’re confident the interior is clean, it’s time to move on to the all-important protection!

Start with one coat, you can apply an additional coat for thicker fabrics (refer to our How to apply page for more details). Allow between 12-24 hours for the protector to dry, and you’re all set! Unlike mainstream fabric protectors formulated with toxic chemicals, our non toxic formula doesn’t require you to vacate the premises during the drying period.

For most standard upholstery and fabric surfaces we recommend using 100ml of fabric protector per M² of the surface. It doesn’t need to be exact, just make sure the fabric is saturated with product. Please note saturating does not apply for leather, suede and velvet. We recommend a light spray and then gently “buffing” the product into the fibres with a soft, clean cloth.

Stain proof your car in just 5 simple steps:

1. Get ready: You want to start with a clean surface, so get that vacuum out to the driveway and give your seats a thorough once over to remove any crumbs or dirt.
2. Spot test:  protectME is suitable for suede and alcantara materials, but it’s always a good idea to do a quick spot check. Spray a small concealed area to make sure its colourfast.
3. Protect: Spray using a back and forth motion over your car seats, interiors and steering wheel until the fabric is moist. Our battery operated sprayer is our go-to to avoid wrist fatigue!
4. Patience is key: Don’t jump in with that tall latte just yet. Give your newly protected upholstery 12 hours to dry and your spill-proof alcantara will be worth the wait.
5. Take your new protection for a test drive: Spray a small amount of water on your seats, if small beads of water appear on the surface then you are ready to roll. If not, it’s best to do another coat just to be sure.

Tip: Keep a soft cloth in your glove box. This way, if your green juice does take a tumble simply wipe away the liquid and the mess is gone! Always prefer reusable cloth over disposable paper towels.
